al-Fustat (الفسطاط ‎ / al-Fusṭāṭ /„Zelt“; heute Alt-Kairo) ist ein Stadtteil von Kairo am Nil. Der Name ist wahrscheinlich die arabisierte Form des griechischen Fossãton.[1]

al-Fustat wurde 643 als erste arabische Siedlung in Ägypten gegründet. Bis zur Gründung von Kairo (969) durch die Fatimiden war es Verwaltungszentrum des Landes. Die Moschee des Gründers Amr ibn al-As ist erhalten.
