Brandung bezeichnet die auf Untiefen und die Küste auftreffenden, vom Wind angetriebenen und sich überstürzenden Wellen eines Sees, Meeres oder Ozeans, die diesen Bereich teilweise auch stetig verändern. Dieses Küstenveränderung nennt man Abrasion.
